There is a small and medium-sized packaging factory in Caldas, Colombia, which mainly provides packaging products for nearby chicken farms. As customers increasingly prefer degradable materials, the factory decided to add a pulp egg tray production line. At the end of 2025, they bought a complete set of egg tray moulding machine from YG Company.【WhatsApp/WeChat/Phone】+86 13837122632

Customer’s Specific Requirements for Egg Tray Moulding Machine
Carlos, the person in charge of the factory, listed several points when purchasing the egg tray manufacturing machine:
- Raw material supply: There are local printing plants and carton factories, so waste paper scraps are easy to obtain and low in cost.
- Product use: Mainly produce 30-cell and 12-cell egg trays for surrounding chicken farms.
- Environmental protection requirements: Products must be naturally degradable without increasing waste disposal pressure.
- Budget range: Initial investment should be kept at a reasonable level; oversized capacity equipment is not desired.
- Operation difficulty: Existing workers have no experience with pulp molding equipment, so an easy-to-operate model is needed.
Finding the Right Egg Tray Moulding Machine
After deciding to produce egg trays on their own, Carlos officially began looking for equipment suppliers. He searched online for “egg tray making machine for sale” and found few manufacturers that could provide detailed technical information. Carlos selected three companies with export records to South America and sent inquiries to each, asking for equipment videos and parameter lists.YG was the fastest to reply, directly sending the complete parameter sheet of the egg tray moulding machine, an on-site factory test video, and real customer feedback pictures. After comparison, Carlos decided to give priority to YG’s machine and asked for a detailed quotation and plant layout plan.

Understanding the Pulp Molding Production Process
Before signing the contract, Carlos fully learned the process of the egg tray manufacturing machine via video conference. YG technicians showed four main steps: Pulping — putting waste paper into a hydrapulper to make pulp; Forming — pulp forming a wet tray on the mold through vacuum adsorption; Dewatering — removing part of the water naturally or mechanically; Drying — drying the finished products with hot air.
Choosing the Egg Tray Moulding Machine Model Based on Capacity Needs
According to the actual situation of Carlos’s factory, YG provided three options:
- YG-1500 reciprocating machine: 1500 pieces per hour, suitable for trial production, but may lack capacity later.
- YG-2500 rotary drum machine: 2500 pieces per hour. With two shifts of 6 hours each day, the daily output is about 30,000 pieces.
- YG-3000 rotary drum machine: 3000 pieces per hour, higher capacity but about 25% more expensive.
Carlos calculated: surrounding chicken farms need about 600,000 egg trays per month, and the YG-2500 egg tray moulding machine can just meet the demand without running two full shifts, leaving extra capacity. So he chose the YG-2500 egg tray moulding machine. He believed the equipment was moderately priced and would not cause wasted capacity.

Drying Solution: Brick Kiln with Local Fuel
Colombia has a developed coffee industry, so coffee husks and wood waste are widely available. For this egg crate making machine, YG recommended a brick kiln drying line for the following reasons:
- The brick kiln can use biomass pellets, firewood, and coffee husks as fuel.
- Lower construction cost than metal drying lines and simple maintenance.
- Local workers have some experience with brick kilns and can operate quickly.
- Low heat loss, with daily operating cost roughly equal to 10 kg of diesel.
Carlos built a small brick kiln next to the factory, using coffee husks as the main fuel. The drying temperature is controlled at 180–200℃, and each batch of wet trays takes about 4 hours to dry. The drying system of this egg crate making machine does not use natural gas or electric heating, and the operating cost is acceptable.
