In the first half of 2025, YG delivered two floor blasting machine units to Malaysia – one for bridge deck scarifying on a new viaduct in Kuala Lumpur, and the other for renovating old warehouse floors at a logistics park in Penang. The two customers had different applications, machine choices, and construction schedules, but they chose YG for the same core reasons: they needed an efficient, dust-free, and consistently reliable concrete surface preparation solution. Here are the detailed stories of both projects.

Case 1: Bridge Deck Scarifying for a New Viaduct in Kuala Lumpur
Customer needs
A Malaysian bridge waterproofing specialist won a contract for waterproofing a new six-lane viaduct in downtown Kuala Lumpur. The total deck area was about 12,000 m². They needed to remove laitance and scarify the concrete surface to achieve a CSP-4 roughness grade, which would ensure good bonding for the modified asphalt waterproofing membrane. The project deadline was tight – the owner required all surface preparation and membrane installation to be finished within 45 days.
The contractor faced two main problems. First, the viaduct is above a major city road, so daytime traffic could not be interrupted – they could only work at night and on weekends. Second, environmental rules in downtown Kuala Lumpur are strict; traditional sandblasting produces too much dust and noise, which would likely cause complaints from nearby residents. The project manager needed an efficient, eco-friendly concrete floor shot blasting machine that could handle a large area within a limited time.
YG solution
Based on the workload (12,000 m²), schedule (about 30 effective night+weekend workdays), and required roughness (CSP-4), YG recommended the YG-550/600 twin-wheel floor blasting machine. With a working width of 550-600 mm and concrete cleaning efficiency of ≥400 m²/h, each 8-hour shift could process over 3,200 m² – more than enough to complete the entire deck in the available workdays. The eight-core automatic backflush dust collector kept emissions well within local limits, avoiding any impact on residential areas. Using 1.5-1.8 mm steel shot, the concrete surface reached CSP-4 in a single pass.
Process
The first inquiry included photos of the deck, the total area, and the schedule. YG technicians replied the same day with a machine recommendation, productivity calculations, and video clips of similar bridge projects. The customer had two specific concerns: whether the machine could run continuously in Malaysia’s tropical climate (YG confirmed the operating temperature range is -20 °C to +60 °C, which is fully suitable) and how the dust collector would perform in hot, humid conditions (YG provided technical data on the eight-core unit’s humidity tolerance). After three rounds of technical emails and one WhatsApp video call, the customer ordered one YG-550 twin-wheel unit, two tonnes of steel shot, and a spare wear-parts kit (directional sleeve and blasting wheel). The machine was shipped by sea from China to Port Klang, taking about 18 days.
Results
After arrival, the customer’s team spent half a day on assembly and commissioning. On the bridge deck, the YG-550 consistently processed 400-430 m²/h, and the roughness test showed CSP-4, fully meeting the membrane bonding requirements. The entire 12,000 m² deck was completed in five night shifts (about 2,400 m² per shift) – three days ahead of schedule. All pull-off adhesion tests after membrane installation passed. There were zero complaints from residents, and the municipal authority raised no environmental issues.

Case 2: Renovating Old Warehouse Floors at a Penang Logistics Park
Customer needs
A Penang-based industrial flooring contractor took on a project to renovate three old warehouse floors in a logistics park, with a total area of about 6,000 m². The original epoxy coatings had peeled and blistered extensively and needed to be completely removed before applying a new epoxy self-levelling floor.
The contractor required two things: thorough removal of the old coating down to the concrete substrate, and enough surface roughness to ensure good adhesion for the new coating. But the warehouses were still occupied by tenants, so work had to be done in phases – each building had to be finished within three days to minimise disruption. Previously, they used hand-held angle grinders, which managed less than 20 m² per hour – meaning the whole job would take nearly a month. They urgently needed a more productive and consistent shot blasting machine for concrete.
YG solution
Given the confined indoor spaces, many columns and racks, and the need for manoeuvrability, YG recommended the single-wheel YG-270 floor blasting machine. Its 270 mm working width is narrower than twin-wheel models, but the machine is compact (1000×300×1100 mm) and light (only 150 kg), making it easy to turn between columns and beside racks. With concrete cleaning efficiency of ≥180 m²/h, one machine could process about 1,400 m² per 8-hour shift – more than enough to finish a 2,000 m² building in three days. The seven-core automatic backflush dust collector kept indoor dust levels very low, so work in one building did not affect tenant operations in neighbouring units.
Process
The customer sent an email asking about a suitable model for indoor warehouse floor renovation. YG recommended the YG-270 and attached a video showing a similar warehouse floor coating removal and scarifying job. The customer was most interested in how well the machine removed old coatings and how clean the indoor dust control was. YG provided before-and-after photos and indoor dust concentration data from real jobs. Mr. Lee was satisfied with both price and delivery time, and completed payment within two weeks. The machine was shipped by sea to Penang Port, taking about 15 days.
Results
Work began on the first warehouse immediately after arrival. The YG-270 performed excellently at stripping the old epoxy – one pass completely removed the coating down to the concrete substrate, achieving a CSP-3 roughness that met the adhesion requirements for the new epoxy. The actual processing speed was about 180-200 m²/h. All three warehouses (6,000 m² total) were completed in three separate batches over nine days – each building took about three days, perfectly meeting the tenants’ operational time windows.

Daily Maintenance Guide for Floor Blasting Machine
To keep your bead blaster floor machine running reliably over the long term, we recommend the following routine maintenance:
After each shift
- Clean out any residual shot and debris from the blasting chamber; check wear on the directional sleeve and blasting wheel blades.
- Empty the dust collector bin and inspect the filter cartridges for clogging (the automatic backflush system cleans itself every 2-3 operating hours, but manual checks are still needed after extended use).
- Check the drive wheels and guide wheels for debris entanglement; keep the drive mechanism moving freely.
Weekly checks
- Measure the thickness of the directional sleeve and blasting wheel blades – replace them if wear exceeds one-third of the original thickness (normal service life is about 20,000 m²).
- Inspect wear on the top and side liners (service life approx. 50,000 m²).
- Top up the steel shot to about 2/3 of the hopper; screen out any shot that has broken into fines.
Monthly maintenance
- Check lubrication of the blasting wheel bearings and motor bearings; add grease as needed.
- Check the dust collector fan belt tension.
- Test all electrical connections and emergency stop switches.
Storage tips
- If the machine will not be used for a long time, empty the hopper of shot to prevent moisture from caking it.
- Store the machine in a dry, ventilated place, protected from rain.
- Run the machine for a few minutes once a month to prevent moisture damage to the motor and electrical components.
